Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy and/or neurofeedback are investments in you. They are not overnight fixes. Many people find that their commitment and energy to the process creates life changing results. If you feel that you and I would be a good fit for one another, please contact me. I offer a free consultation where we can talk about what you are hoping to gain and answer any questions that you may have.

How do I get started?
Please call or email me if you have questions or would like to set up an initial consultation. I would like to talk with you to learn about what you are hoping to gain from therapy. From there, if it seems like we would be a good fit for one another, we would schedule a time to meet for 50 minutes. If you want to use your insurance, I suggest looking into your plan to understand details about your deductibles and co-pays.
What should I expect in therapy sessions?

You can expect a safe space, free of judgment. I strive to create a curious, open, and sometimes playful environment that allows for finding acceptance and connecting as humans with inherent flaws.

Our first few sessions will be geared towards understanding what you would like to accomplish in your life and the obstacles you face in making your hopes a reality. During this time (and anytime!) feel free to ask any questions that arise. Together, we can determine if we think we would be a good fit for one another and discuss ongoing treatment.

During the sessions that follow you can expect that I will encourage you to notice and attempt to fully experience emotions that come up for you. I will encourage you to voice thoughts, behaviors, and feelings- especially the ones that don’t make rational sense. If you are not ready to share certain things for whatever reason, it can be helpful for us to explore what is making it difficult for you. Many problems arise from unprocessed emotions that influence all aspects of our lives.

By learning to identify, experience, and to stay with your emotions you can more fully process them rather than being pulled around by them.

Often, what happens within the therapy room between you and me gives us clues as to what might be going on in your relationships outside of our sessions. This is a unique opportunity to study relationship dynamics. For your therapeutic benefit, I encourage you to talk to me about any emotions or thoughts that you have towards me or our conversation.

What are your fees?

My rates for individual therapy are $150 for 50 minute sessions.

Do you accept insurance?

I am no longer accepting new Blue Cross Blue Shield clients.  I have recently partnered with Alma to begin accepting Aetna and United Plans.

For all other insurance, I am considered out-of-network. That would mean that you would pay out of pocket, but may be reimbursed for all or a portion of you fees. I am able to provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider.

Do you accept health savings and health cards?

I am able to process most HSA and FSA cards the same way I process credit cards. If you have any questions, I recommend that you check with your card administrator.

Where is your office located?

I work remotely from Austin, Texas.
